The Lost One: by Fairy girl15 Ext. Outskirts of Los Angeles-Day It was a warm summer day and Sarah was riding her bicycle on her street. Laughter and happiness floods the air as children, teens and even adults took the time to go out and enjoy nature. Sarah closes her eyes and threw back her head as the wind rushes past her. SARAH “Ah, such a lovely day!” (Sarah sighs softly.) Just then, Sarah’s bicycle catches a large crack in the pavement and flips forward. SARAH “Oh! No!” (Sarah braces for the impact.) But to Sarah’s surprise, she did not feel herself hit the hard pavement. But, instead she felt herself flying through the air. SARAH (Sarah opens her eyes and gasps.) “Oh, my! I am flying! Wow, look at that view.” (Then a thought crosses her mind.) “Wait a minute. This does not look like L.A. Where am I?” Little by little Sarah started to decrease in altitude. Until, finally Sarah plummets towards the ground. SARAH “AHHHHHHHH!” (Sarah hits the ground hard. But not hard enough to kill her.) Dust filled the air as she hit. Sarah opens her eyes slowly. She tried to move but it was impossible. She started to cry softly, and then she heard horse hooves that were drawing near. SARAH “H-help. W-whoever you are, please…” (Sarah tried to speak more but then everything went black.) A man riding a horse trots toward Sarah. He is wearing medieval looking clothes. He rides a reddish-brown mare. (Continued) LINK “Whoa! Easy girl.” (The horse stops and neighs. Link pats the horse’s neck before dismounting.) “What do we have here?” (Link shakes his head softly and picking Sarah up.) “Poor girl.” (Link puts Sarah up onto his horse and climbed up behind her to keep her from falling off.) Several months later, Sarah wakes up sore and in pain. She can hear sounds of dishes clanking together. LINK (Link turns to the bed that Sarah was on.) “Oh, finally you are awake. I thought for sure that you have gone to go meet the gods.” (Link looks down and sees that he still has his apron and his hands were wet and soapy. He giggles a bit in embarrassment. He dries his hands and takes off the apron. He walks over to the bed and sat on the edge of the bed.) “How are you feeling, young one?” SARAH (Sarah opens her eyes and sees Link leaning over her.) “Who-who are you?” (Sarah tries to move but is overpowered by pain.) LINK “Oh, please miss. Don’t move. You are very badly injured still.” (Link smiles softly.) “My name is Link. I am protector of this land and to the princess.” SARAH (Sarah smiles.) “My name is Sarah.” (Sarah notices Link’s ears.) “Whoa, your ears. They are pointy and long.” LINK (Link rubs one of his ears absentmindedly.) “Ah, these ears are just like anybody’s else’s around here.” (Link sees Sarah’s ears.) “But I must say, those are cute little ones. They look like the Gerudo’s ears.” SARAH “I am sorry, who?” (Continued.) LINK “Whoa. Wait a minute. You don’t know who the Gerudos are?” (Link laughed.) ”You are not of this place are you?” SARAH (Sarah blushes a bit.) “Actually, I don’t know where I am exactly.” Link started to answer but then he was interrupted by a voice out side of the house. PROFESSOR (The professor walks through the door. He is dressed in a white lab coat and thick glasses. He looks to be very old.) “LINK!! Hey Link. Oh, I see our little patient is finally awake. How is she doing?” LINK (Link jumps at the sound of the professor’s voice.) “Jeez, Professor, you scared me almost into the Dark World. Sarah is doing just fine. Still in pain.” PROFESSOR “Oh, so her name is Sarah, eh?” (The Professor walks over closer.) “I can’t see why she is still alive. Her injuries were great.” SARAH “Um, excuse me…but who are you?” (Sarah looks to Link) LINK “Sarah, this is the Professor. He is the one who helped heal your wounds. He is the smartest man in the land.” PROFESSOR “Aw, shucks boy. Don’t waste your breathe on an old man.” (Professor turns to Sarah) “Where are you from, child?” SARAH “I am from Los Angeles…” (Continued) PROFESSOR (Interrupts.) “Los Angeles?” (He thinks.) “I never heard of it. Is it near here?” SARAH “I don’t know. I don’t know where I am or how I got here.” PROFESSOR “Well, what do you remember?” SARAH “I remember riding my bicycle on my street and hitting something. Then all of a sudden, I was flying!” (Sarah opens her arms as if to fly.) PROFESSOR “What is this ‘bicycle’ thing? What does it do?” SARAH (Sarah shakes her head) “Would one of you like to tell me where I am?” LINK “You are in the land of Hyrule, my dear.” SARAH (Sarah tries to get up. She sits up.) LINK “PLEASE! Sarah, do not get up. It will make your injuries worse.” (Link looks like he is about ready to cry.) SARAH “I will be okay. I just need to go home. My mother will be so worried over me.” The professor was looking at Sarah’s clothes, which were over by the chair. He was clearly fascinated by them. PROFESSOR “What interesting looking garments. Who ever this ‘Tommy-Hilfiger’ is, is sure a good tailor.” (Continued.) SARAH (Sarah looks) “Huh? Those are my clothes! What are they doing…” (Sarah looks down and screams. She covers herself with the blanket.) “Why am I in my undergarments!” LINK (Link blushes) “Well, It has been several months since I found you. I couldn’t leave you all dirty like that.” SARAH (Her eyes widen) “Don’t tell me…. you saw my body?” Link nodded slowly. Sarah slaps Link hard across the face. The professor bursts out into laughter. Several weeks later and Sarah’s wounds have healed and she seems to be in perfect health. She bounds into the professor’s laboratory wearing a purple and white dress. SARAH (Sneaks up to the Professor) “BOO!” PROFESSOR (He jumps and grabs his heart.) “Good God! Child! You nearly gave me another heart attack.” SARAH (Sarah laughs a little bit.) “What do you have today?” PROFESSOR “I see you are growing accustomed to life here.” SARAH (Sarah sighs.) “Yes, but I want to go home.” PROFESSOR “I know you want to return, dear but I don’t know how to send you back yet. I am still neck deep in research.” (Continued) SARAH (Sarah turned to leave.) “Okay. I’ll see you later, Professor!” Sarah waved and headed out the door. The sun was setting over the lake and the sight was breath taking. She sat down on the shore to watch it. Behind her, unknowing, Link stood in awe of Sarah’s beauty. He jumps as the Professor laid a hand on his shoulder. LINK “I don’t know how I am going to do it.” PROFESSOR “Do what, child?” LINK (Link sighs as a small tear rolls down his cheek.) “I don’t know how I am ever going to let her go.” (He turns to the Professor.) “I think I love her.” The three watched the remaining sunset in silence. Link, trying to realize that this love cannot last. He has to choose on how he wants it to end. Ext. Hyrule, Kokiri Forest -Night Sarah sits on the porch of her make shift home. Her home, like the others was made out of a tree. But, in the forest of the Kokiri she learned that these people never age. They remain looking like children even if 7 years or more has passed. And that is where they are now…The Kokiri Forest. SARAH (Sarah closes her eyes. Absorbing the sounds of the night air. She looks up in the sky and sees a shooting star go by.) “Oh, there goes a shooting star!” LINK “Then make a wish.” SARAH (Sarah jumps.) “Oh, how long were you standing there?” LINK “I just got here. So, what was your wish?” (Continued) SARAH “I am not telling. If I tell, I won’t get it.” LINK (Link sighs sadly.) “There is no need, I know what it is.” SARAH (Senses Link’s sadness.) “Link, what is wrong?” LINK (Turns to her.) “From the first day that I found you. I knew that the goddesses have sent you but I know how difficult it would be for me.” SARAH “What do you mean?” LINK “Sarah, I know I shouldn’t but….” SARAH “What is it? You can tell me.” LINK “Sarah, I love you.” Sarah gasped as he told her this. She kind of knew that he had feelings towards her but she knew that she was also falling in love. SARAH “Link, I love you too.” Link was not expecting to hear these words. He blinked a couple times. LINK “Are you sure you love me?” SARAH (Sarah giggled a little bit.) “Of course I do. You were the one who found me, nursed me back to health and even was kind to me.” (Continued) LINK (Link looked at her in a bit of shock.) “You mean they are not nice to you from were you reign?” SARAH “No, they are nice to me but…while I was here…. you have been there.” LINK (Link looks down.) “But you have to return to your time.” SARAH “But that wouldn’t be for a while, remember? The professor is still trying to find a way to send me home.” LINK “But the question is, my dear, is if you want to return.” SARAH (She falls silent for a while.) “I…I don’t know.” Link and Sarah watched the remainder of the stars until the night was reseeding and the dawn approaching. Ext. Hyrule-Day The sun was just peaking out of the top of Death Mountain and it was a beautiful day. A soldier dressed in armor approached Link and poked him with the butt of his spear. Link waked up groggily. LINK (Waking up.) “Huh? What?” (He stretches a bit.) SOLDIER “Link, sir. You are summand to the palace. The princess wishes to speak with you. Please, mount your horse and come with me.” LINK “Yes. I am coming…. Oh.” (He looks down to the sleeping Sarah.) “May she come too?” (CONTINUED) SOLDIER “As you wish.” (The soldier turns and leaves.) LINK (Link gently shakes Sarah to get her to awaken.) “Sarah, wake up. Sarah…” SARAH (Waking.) “Yes, what is it?” LINK “We have been requested to see the princess. Its time to go.” Sarah gathers her stuff and cleans up a bit, so does Link. They went to feed Link’s horse, Epona, and made their way slowly to Hyrule Castle. The guard outside of the castle sees Link approaching and claps three times. Link stops Epona in front of the drawbridge. The drawbridge opens and Link leads Epona to the Stables. LINK (Link talks to the Stable hand.) “Hello Fredrick. Take extra care of Epona today. Do that and I will give you two extra rupees.” (Link hands Fredrick the reins.) SARAH “Epona…. Is that the name of your horse… Its lovely!” FREDRICK “Yes sir!” (Fredrick says while taking the reins.) “Who is your female friend, milord? She doesn’t look of this land…Just look at her ears. She looks like a Gerudo without a tan!” (Fredrick laughs.) LINK (Link smacks Fredrick upside the head.) “KNOCK THAT OFF! Sarah is not from this land…and I wish you would apologize to her at once!” (Continued.) FREDRICK (Fredrick rubs the spot on his head of where he was hit.) “Ow! Okay, Okay. Geez Link no need to get your….” (Fredrick stops when he sees Links look.) “I am sorry Ma’am. It T’was rude of me to mock your appearance. Please, forgive me.” (He bends down and kisses the back of her hand.) LINK “Would you knock that off!” (Raises his hand to hit Fredrick again.) FREDRICK (Ducks. And laughs.) “I am only foolin’.” Link and Sarah walks towards the castle and enters. They make their way to the throne room, where the princess is. Link sees Sarah shaking. LINK (Putting an arm over her.) “Nervous?” SARAH “Yes. I never have been before royalty. I just don’t know how to act in front of them.” (Sarah looks down) LINK (Smiles softly to her.) “It is okay. The princess is very nice.” SARAH “To you maybe. I don’t know if she likes outsiders.” GUARD “Presenting, Sir Link and his guest.” The giant doors the throne room open and a red carpet trails to the thrones to where the princess sits alone. Link and Sarah walked up to the thrones and Link bows before the princess. Sarah sees this and shakes a bit nervously…. PRINCESS ZELDA “Welcome Sir Link. And who is your friend?” (Continued.) LINK “This is Sarah. She is not from this land, Your Majesty. The professor is trying to figure out how to send her back home.” (Link sighs softly when he said this.) Sarah squeezes his arm a bit in encouragement. PRINCESS ZELDA (Zelda nods.) “Link, the reason why I called you here today is to tell you that Hyrule might have to go to war. I need you to be in charge since some of the guards here are turning chicken all of a sudden.” (Zelda chuckles.) “And since of your past of how you always succeeded on saving me and the kingdom…I hereby appoint you as Chief of the Guards. Link, your sword please.” Link hands Princess Zelda his sword, The Master Sword, and Zelda taps him on the shoulders with it. “Arise Link, Captain of the Guards.” LINK (Stands up.) “Thank you Princess Zelda. I shall not let you down or the kingdom.” PRINCESS ZELDA (Zelda smiles) “I know that. Now, go home and get ready. One of my guards will come and fetch you if the time is needed for the war to start.” Link bows softly and turns to go. Sarah stays behind a bit and curtsies in front of Princess Zelda; Zelda smiles and nods. Ext. Hyrule Field, Hyrule-Dusk Link and Sarah ride on Epona. The sun was setting and there was a romantic something in the air. SARAH “Link?” LINK “Yes?” (Continued) SARAH “Do you think that you will have to fight in this war?” LINK “Most likely. I am now Chief of the Guards now and I have lots of responsibility to protecting the princess and the kingdom.” (Link hears Sarah sigh sadly) “What is it?” SARAH “I am just worried that you will be hurt. What if you are killed! I don’t know if my heart can take it.” LINK (Pulls on the reins, making Epona stop. He turns around and faces Sarah.) “Look, love. You know you have the choice of staying here with me or returning. But I think that it is best that you go back. Your family must be terribly worried about you by now. But I know it is going to hurt to be gone from each other. But at the moment it looks as if you are going to stay. And don’t worry about the war. It probably won’t happen.” (Link lifts up Sarah’s chin and looks into her eyes.) “So cheer up, and remember that I am always with you and that I love you.” Sarah and Link kissed. The sun was just almost set. And that was the end of that day. Ext. Kokori Forest, Hyrule-Dawn Link and Sarah were asleep. Link had given his bed for her and he slept on the ground. A guard rushed up to Link. GUARD “Link! Sir Link!” (He sounds in a panic.) LINK (Wakes up groggily and pokes his head out of the door.) “Yes, what is it? Why are you coming after me this early…” (His voice trails off) “Oh no. Don’t tell me.” GUARD “Sir Link, the war has began we need you at the front.” (Continued) LINK “Blast! You, take Sarah to safety. Take her to the princess and keep her safe!” (Link shakes Sarah to awake her.) “Sarah! Sarah, my love!” SARAH “Yes, what is it?” LINK “I need you to go with this guard. The war has begun and I am needed. Please help the princess in whatever she needs okay.” Sarah gasps. She couldn’t believe that the war that she feared has begun. Sarah and Link kissed one last time before she went with the guard. Link rode his horse to the lines. LINK “Okay. Who are we fighting?” GUARD #2 “We are fighting the Kingdom of Pulsa. They have waged war against us and demanding our land. I fear that they have Ganondorf on their side.” LINK “What!? How can that be! I thought I either killed him or sent him to the dark realm over 10 years ago! I am going to have to be very careful.” (Link muttered a silent prayer to the goddesses before heading off into battle.) “You can have anyone you want. But if Ganondorf resides in this battle, he is mine!” (Link hits Epona and has her gallop forward into battle. Link takes out his sword and chops it down on the enemy’s heads and whatever he could find to hit.) Meanwhile, Sarah and Princess Zelda are hiding in a secret chamber of the castle. Sarah keeps looking out of the window towards the battle. Princess Zelda comes over to her. PRINCESS ZELDA “Don’t worry. I am sure he is alright.” SARAH “I am just so worried.” Just then a big boom outside is heard. The girls scream. SARAH “What was that!” (The wall begins to give way and an evil laugh is heard) (Continued) GANONDORF (Breaks through the wall. His boney guards, known as the Stalfos, surround Princess Zelda and Sarah.) “Ha Ha Ha! So this is where the girl hides!” PRINCESS ZELDA (Stands in front of Sarah) “What do you want with us now?” GANONDORF “Ha! You are lucky today Princess. You are not who I want it is you! Get her!” (Ganondorf points his finger at Sarah and the Stalfos grabs her.) “Ha ha ha! Take care my dear princess. I will get you the next time!” Zelda backs up and runs out of the secret room. She jumps on her white mare and heads towards the battle. PRINCESS ZELDA “Link! Where are you!?” (Zelda looks around franticly for him.) “Link!” GUARD #2 “Your Highness! What are you doing out of the secret room?” PRINCESS ZELDA “Where is Link!?” GUARD #2 “He is in the front lines….” (Zelda rushes over to the front lines) “Wait! Princess! Its too dangerous!” Zelda looks around and dodges the flying arrows. Calling out to Link. A Moblin, a pig-dog looking creature, spooks Zelda’s horse, throwing her off. PRINCESS ZELDA “Ahhh! Link! Where are you?” (Zelda backs up while on her back) LINK (Upon hearing Zelda’s cries for help he rushes to her and starts to fight off the Moblin) “Run! Go now, your highness!” (Zelda rushes off and hides but close enough. Link defeats the Moblin) “Princess Zelda! What are you doing here….” (Continued) PRINCESS ZELDA “He’s got her!” LINK “Who’s got who?” PRINCESS ZELDA “Ganondorf! He’s got Sarah!” LINK “WHAT! Zelda get to safety I must go after her.” Meanwhile in the Death Mountain caves, Sarah is locked up in a cage. Ganondorf sits in his throne eating at a turkey leg. He only eats a bit of it and throws it down. His dogs scramble for the meat. SARAH “Let me go! Why do you want me!” GANONDORF “Quiet you or I’ll feed you to my dogs!” SARAH “Link will come rescue me. Then you’ll be sorry!” GANONDORF “Link?! HA. Don’t be a stupid girl. He will never come get you. He is more interested than the princess than you. You are just a nobody.” SARAH “Link is not like that. He loves me.” GANONDORF (Laughs) “You actually thinks that he LOVES you? You are more pathetic than I thought.” SARAH “Why have you kidnapped me?” GANONDORF “There is something I want but I am unable to get it. So you are going to get it for me.” SARAH “And if I refuse?” (Continued) GANONDORF “Then you will die a most horrible death.” Meanwhile, Link is riding Epona as fast as she could go but where? He had no idea where she was but something strong was drawing him towards Death Mountain. LINK “She’s got to be in there! I just know it. Hold on my love, I am on my way!” (Link turned on the reins hard and made Epona change her direction to the right, heading towards Death Mountain.) Link finally made it to Death Mountain just as the sun was setting. Death mountain is red-earthed and not really a mountain but a volcano. Link looks up and sees Ganondorf’s castle. LINK (Link’s expression changes dramatically.) “So, that’s where the evil is hidden. I should of known.” Just then, two Stalfos jump at Link, surprising him. The Stalfos is just one of Ganondorf’s minions. They are skeleton warriors, pledged to their commander to be always on guard, even after death. STALFOS #1 “You are trespassing on Lord Ganondorf’s land!” STALFOS #2 “Leave now or you shall die!” LINK (Unsheathes his sword, known as The Master Sword, and gets into fighters stance.) “Well then, Let us fight. I will not leave. For your Lord Ganondorf has taken my love and nothing in this world will stop me from getting her back! YAHHHHHHHHHH!” Link charges head on at the Stalfos, pushed on by anger and the need to rescue his love. The Stalfos slash at him with their gigantic swords. Hitting sometimes but the rage pulsing through Link’s body pushed him on to forget the pain. He finally destroyed the Stalfos and makes his way slowly to the castle. His wounds bleeding onto the ground, he treads on. In the castle, another Stalfos who was watching the fight reports back to Ganondorf. STALFOS #3 (The Stalfos kneels down before Ganondorf) “My Lord, there is an intruder approaching the castle.” (Continued) GANONDORF (Ganondorf chuckles) “So, that Link decided to come. Let him come to me. I am ready.” (Ganondorf sits down in his throne and puts his sword to the side.) Meanwhile. Link treaded up the mountain face. Blood and sweat trickle down his body, the sun beating down onto him. He finally gets to the gates of the castle. He looks up at the very big Castle of Ganondorf. LINK “This has been way too easy. Ganondorf sure got a plan up his sleeve. “ (Link walks through the gates and stops just short of the entrance when all of a sudden the gates slam shut.) “Whoa, now I know something is up.” An organ is heard playing somewhere in the castle. Link tries to go up the stairs and sees two Stalfos on guard out side a room. Link took out his bow and arrow and shoots them before they knew what hit them. He enters and it was the room that Ganondorf was. Sarah looks up and sees Link. SARAH “Link!” GANONDORF (Laughs and turns around) “So, you have come. You will not live long. Only long enough to see your precious die.” (Ganondorf starts to conjure up his dark magic.) LINK “NO!” At that moment, Ganondorf releases the magic right towards Sarah. It hits her and she screams and falls to the bottom of the cage. LINK “NO! MURDERER!” (Link says through tears.) GANONDORF “No. No fouling the air now boy.” LINK “You are the one who should know!” (Continued) GANONDORF (Laughs) “Now it is your turn to die.” (Ganondorf raises his sword and swings it down.) Instinctively Link raised his to meet it. They slashed at each other in a frenzy of a battle. The battle rages on for several minutes. LINK (Blocks an overhead shot.) “Time to die Ganondorf!” Link stabbed forward and stabs into the gut of Ganondorf. Ganondorf bent forward a bit. Link removes the sword and Ganondorf instinctively clutches his wound. GANONDORF “I can’t. Believe that the little twerp finna.ly got. Me.” (Ganondorf falls down and dies.) Link rushes over to the cage and throws open the door. He grabs hold of Sarah. He starts to cry and he brought her closer. Suddenly, he heard her murmur. Sarah was alive! SARAH (Opens her eyes) “Link?” LINK “Oh! Sarah! I was so worried!” (He hugged her.) Link took Sarah to his home, but on the front steps was the professor. PROFESSOR “Ah, Link. There you are.” (He looks toward Sarah) “Sarah, I have found a way to send you back home.” SARAH “Yes, I will be able to finally go home. And Link can come visit me any…” PROFESSOR (Interrupts) “No, child. Link cannot go and visit. Once you go back to your own time, you can never come back. So now, you got to choose.” (Continued) SARAH (Sarah gasps and looks to Link) “Link! I don’t want to go without you.” LINK “Sarah, I love you. But you have to go home.” (He holds her close.) “You have to go home for your family.” SARAH (A tear falls down her cheek.) “I guess I have no choice.” LINK (Wipes Sarah’s tear.) “Go now, return to your own time.” PROFESSOR “Are you ready, Dear?” SARAH “Yes, I am ready.” PROFESSOR (Leads Sarah to a portal) “Step through, child, and return home.” SARAH (Runs back to Link) “No, I am not ready. I want to stay here, with Link!” PROFESSOR “Child! You must go through before the portal closes.” (Looks back as he sees the portal faltering.) “Hurry!” LINK (Takes hold of Sarah.) “Sarah. I know you don’t want to leave but you must! Please. Go home, and never forget me or this place.” (Link leads her to the portal) (Continued) SARAH (A tear falls down her cheek.) “Goodbye, Link!” (Sarah steps though the portal) The portal immediately closes behind her, forever sealing the connection between Link’s time and hers. LINK (Link looks as the portal closes.) “Goodbye, my love.” (Link covers his face in his hands as he cries.) Meanwhile, back in Los Angeles, Sarah wakes up in a hospital bed. MOM “Robert! Quickly! Sarah’s waking.” SARAH “Mom?” (Eyes open.) DAD “Thank God your awake. You had me so worried.” (He felt her head which was bandaged.) A knock comes to the door. A nurse enters. NURSE “Sarah, there’s a visitor for you. Should I let him in?” MOM “I don’t know if you should. Sarah just woke up and….” SARAH “Sure, let him come in.” NURSE “Come on in Sir.” A boy, around Sarah’s age, enters the room. He looks exactly like Link. In fact it was Link. He was not wearing his clothes from Hyrule, but pants and a loose fitting shirt. His hair was back in a ponytail. (Continued.) LINK (Hides a bouquet of flowers behind his back.) “Hello Sarah.” (Hands Sarah the bouquet) SARAH (Sarah looks up at the familiar voice.) “Link?” (Sarah beams and nearly jumps out of the bed.) “It is you! You came…but what about Hy…” LINK (Link put a finger on her lips.) “Shh…I don’t care about Hyrule now. All I care is you.” SARAH “You can never go back.” LINK “I came shortly after you went. I will never forget my home. But I know that I would of never lived if I didn’t have you. So, I had to come. Not just for me. But for you and everyone in the existence of love.” SARAH “This…this is just the beginning.” LINK “Yes, the beginning to a whole new life.” THE END!
