Back when Nintendo was going to release the SNES CD-ROM, two major companies made deals with Nintendo.  Sony and Philips.  However, due to seeing how poorly the Sega CD did on the market, Nintendo scrapped the add-on plans.

Due to Nintendo getting rid of it, both companies decided to make their own game systems.  Sony made the super-selling Playstation, while Philips' CD-i didn't do so hot.  However, Philips had managed to cut a deal earlier with Nintendo that allowed them to use Nintendo characters in games.

Three Zelda games resulted because of it.  Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon, Link: The Faces of Evil, and Zelda's Adventure.  These games were not made by Nintendo, so they really do not measure up to the rest of the series.

Zelda: The Wand of Gamelon and Link: The Faces of Evil were both released simultaneously, and they are basically the same exact game, except you play as Zelda and Link, respectively.  They were both side scrolling games, and were VERY difficult to play.

Zelda's Adventure: released later than the other two, had a top view similar to the ones in The Legend of Zelda, Link's Awakening, and A Link to the Past.  You play as Zelda in this one also.  The backgrounds were photo-realistic; basically it was a Zelda RPG.

Like I said before, they were not made by Nintendo, and therefore do not play as well as the others.  I would only recommend them for hard-core fans of the series.
