| A Humans Hyrulian
Adventure: by DarkSage_Arianna Chapter one
"Darned
map..." I exclaimed to myself. Apparently, I
had lost my way to the building that was supposed
to have this 'club' meeting in about 7 minutes. I
wasn't even half way there. What made the
situation worse was the fact that, yep... it was
raining. Although all of this was happening, I
tried not to complain, and instead, looked around
the deserted road for a place to go. I was about
six minutes from my home, and I wasn't about to
walk back even if it was, well, only six minutes.
I hoped for a miracle, for the rain to stop, or
for a building to appear out of nowhere, but of
course, the building wish was definitly not going
to happen, just like fearies couldn't pop up out
of nowhere...after all, fearies aren't even real.
Atleast, that is what was believed in my world.
My dirty-blonde hair was obviously soaked, and
the water was rapidly running over my forehead,
and sometimes into my hazel eyes. What really
made this hard was the fact that I couldn't see
my way around. Nonetheless, I kept 'trying' to
search. I looked near an oak tree that grew about
10 feet away from the road, and saw a large crack
in the dirt. I told myself that there are many
'cracks' in dirt, so I took a step forward
planning to walk more, but I turned slowly back
to the crack and bent down to examine it more
closely. The rain didn't help much, as it made my
hair slide into my eyes, so I had to keep putting
it back behind my ear. I ran my slim fingers
along the line and noticed that a little of the
dirt had fallen into a tiny hole. I squinted and
relized that this wasn't any ordinary crack in
the dirt, but an opening that lead to somewhere.
I pounded my fist at the crack, and more dirt
fell. I did that until no more dirt would fall
away and I was left with a hole in the ground,
about two feet in length and width. Of course,
you have always heard that curiosity killed the
cat. Well, I wasn't thinking of that phrase when
I should have been thinking about the club
meeting. The leader of the club would kill me if
I wasn't there...apparently, the curiosity I had
of this strange 'hole' would most likely,
well...get me in big trouble with her, or...him.
Regardless of that, I just crawled through. I was
much too relieved to atleast be partly sheltered
from the rain, even though quite a few droplets
were leaking into this 'hiding place' of mine. I
closed my arms around myself, shivering, and
noticed that I could see my breath.
"Strange..." I said to myself. It
wasn't very cold in here, and I only walked about
5 feet down. I looked around the hole some more,
and noticed it started to look more like a cave.
The only light I could see was the dim rainy
light that shone through the entrance. I walked
into dimmer light and felt my way around the ice
cold walls, still shivering. Finnally, after what
seemed like twenty minutes of searching (which
turned out to be a mere three minutes), I found a
long, but sturdy rope on the ground that I had
stepped on and almost tripped over. I tugged on
it, but nothing much happened. I pulled harder
and I heard a few pieced of small rock chunks
fall to the ground. I pulled as hard as I could
(which, trust me, I could pull pretty hard) and a
rock 'doorway' smashed to the ground, revealing
another entrance to another part of the 'now
called' cave. I entered, although hesitating, a
little nervous to what I might find. I wasn't
very fond of wild rats, but then wondered what
rats would be doing in a cold place for a very
long time, anyway. I stared hard into the
distance of the very large room and saw to me
what looked like a large rainbow-pad. It was on
the ground, and, strangely, there were plants
growing near it. I hurried over, forgetting about
everything else but getting out of here. I knelt
down near the rainbow-pad, and examined it more
closely. "Hmm. I wonder what this is? It
better not be a prank that some little science
kid is playing on innocent people that
are...uh...nosy." I finnally decided to step
on it. Oh well, I wouldn't care if a little
science kid was about to zap me up into his or
her room and spray me in the face with a jug full
of milk. As long as I was out of the rain and
accually in some light. I woke up to find myself,
surprisingly, in a place that was accually
magnificintly beautiful. I noticed it was near
sunset, so I sat up and noticed that I had been
sleeping for maybe...oh, say a few minutes. I
also noticed that...the hole was gone. No way to
get back home. "Oooh..great. So it wasn't a
little science kid...it was probably a da*m
kidnapper or something..." but who would
want to kidnap a normal sixteen year old on
a...uhm...whatever that thing was. A rainbow
colored pad, I guess. I stood up, and wiped the
little pieces of green and brown grass off of my
denim colored pants and looked around. To my
surprise, I noticed that I was in an entirely
different place. I knew I wasn't anywhere in the
United States. I don't think the U.S. even had a
castle, and it esspecially didn't have one in the
state of Arkansas. I was apparently about 20 feet
away from what looked like a draw bridge, and in
the very distance, a castle. "Dam*it, I knew
it, I knew it, I KNEW it! I knew I would
get lost....AGAIN. I have the worst of luck.
Well, then again I don't even know how to hold
the map correctly..." I tried to sarcasm
myself, but it didn't work. I didn't know what to
do in this unfamiliar land, and I knew I wasn't
fond of night time...I always find that the worst
of creatures, like field mice or snakes, were out
at that time. So, I picked up my bag that was
supposed to be brought to the meeting and walked
over to a place that, when entered, looked like a
big ranch. My hair was still wet when I knocked
on the door of the house there, and a young girl,
probably around my age, maybe a year older,
answered the door. "Yes miss? May I help
you?" Her face went from concerned to
worried and she then asked "Um, miss? Did
you fall in Lake Hylia? Your hair is soaking, and
your clothes look damp..." The uncomfortable
feeling of the dampness of the clothing came back
to me, and I responded asking "Um, yes, you
should be able to help me. Ok, my first, and
foremost question is: Where the hellam I?"
"Why, you are at Lon Lon Ranch, of course.
We have great tasting milk and-" I Quickly
interupted her boasting and said "No, no I
mean...where AM I? Like, what...what world? Is
this Earth? Is this the United States?" She
gave me a Quizical look, and I noticed that she
really didn't know what I was talking about. She
just responded with "Um, well miss...this is
neither the...'Earth' or...or your 'United
States' that you are talking about. This is
Hyrule." She decided to end the awkward
comversation by asking "Well, may I put your
clothes up to dry for you? It must be very
uncomfortable in them." She apparently read
my mind. She lead me into an upstaires room, and
lended me a modest dress that wasn't what I would
call 'modern coolness' but, hey...It was
something to wear, and it DID seem to 'fit' the
atmosphere of this new place I was in. I watched
as the girl with thin red, long hair exit the
room, and I changed into the dress she had lended
me. It felt quite comfortable, accually,
regardless of the tight appearence it had when
not worn. I gave a loud sigh as I looked in the
mirror and noticed I looked good in a dress, but
hadn't accually worn a dress, out of fear of the
outcome appearence. I spun around, admiring the
new 'me' image, and went outside to where the
girl was standing. She was putting my clothes to
hang near a fire, and the fires spark gave me a
question that would probably be most important in
the future. "Um, excuse me for asking but,
what is your name?" The young girl responded
with "Oh, darn, I forgot to aquint myself
again...and daddy told me not to do that, as it
brings bad buisness but...Oh well, I will just
say it. Ok, my name is Malon. It's really nice to
meet you." She gave me a wide smile, and I
giggled slightly at the girlyishness attitude of
her. "My name is Arianna. It's nice to meet
you, too." I meant what I said, though. It
really was nice to meet her, accounting that she
had accually asked to help me, and she was drying
my clothes for me, and lended me this dress. So,
I guess I had a reason to be thankful. My hair
was dry by now, and I was getting kind of tired,
it being probably around 11 o'clock at night. I
yawned, and stretched and sat up out of the chair
I had noticed I didn't even know I was sitting
in. I then told Malon, "Well, Malon, I am
getting really tired. Would you mind letting me
stay over for one night?" Surprisingly,
trusting a pure stranger, she thought and said in
a soft voice, "Yes, I suppose so. Try being
quiet going upstairs, as my dad Talon is
sleeping." "Thank you so much!" I
responded, smiling. I think she was a little
surprised at my overwhelmed happiness, but I
really was very tired and I couldn't stand
staying up another minute. I softly tip-toed up
the stairs and into the upstairs room. I crawled
into the bed, and went to sleep.
Chapter two
I woke, to what
sounded like an instrument being played
downstairs. I yawned really loudly, and rubbed my
eyes. I was still tired, and I wasn't much of a
morning person. I walked out of the room, pretty
awake by now. I had been listening to the
wonderful music that was playing downstairs, and
I wanted to see if it was Malon that was playing
the enchanting melody. What I saw was far from
the looks of Malon. The person playing the
instrument- which accually looked like an
ocarina, had sandy-blonde hair, was a little
taller than myself, and wore a green tunic. I
couldn't see his eyes, as they were closed while
playing the music. That must've meant he hadn't
heard me, or saw me, and I thought that was a
good thing. I was ashamed of myself when anyone
saw me in a dress. I really did think I looked
too girly. The man playing the wonderful tune
stopped, and I noticed it was the end of that
song. Both Malon, who was beside him listening to
the tune, and him hadn't noticed me come out, and
I was still on the top of the stairs. I was
planning to creep back into the room, when I
noticed that my foot hit a tiny bell that was on
the wooden ground. I wondered what it was doing
there, but I thought it might have fallen off
some clothes, or maybe a chicken brought it in
(?). Both Link and Malon stared up at me, and I
stared back at them and I started to blush out of
embarressment of being seen in a dress with a guy
in the room. I didn't smile- I was too
embarressed to. Malon finnally broke the silence
by looking at the young man and saying
"Link, that up there is my new found friend,
Arianna. Arianna, this is Link." She waited
for us to shake hands, or say hello, or
something, but I didn't have the guts to say
anything, but stare, and he just looked at me
strangely. Malon's wide smile started to fade and
she lightly jabbed Link in the stomach, trying to
hide it, but apparently she wanted me to see it
slightly. He stammered out "Uhm...uh,
h-hello Arianna." I apparently HAD to
respond, so I said "Hello...Link." I
felt really, really strange being stuck in this
situation, so to calm everything, down, I went
accross the room that Link and Malon were in, and
got my clothes that were dry by now. I quietly
ran back into the room I had slept in the
previous night, and slammed the door. I could
still feel their hard stares on my back, even
though I was in the room now. I changed back into
my crimson colored tank top, and my denim jeans,
and felt way more at ease with myself. I ran back
out of the room, and I got my bag and headed for
the door (wanting to get out of the house as fast
as I could...it really feels strange to have two
people staring at you, one of which is a guy,
that from the least to say, was really quite
cute.) While I was passing infront of Malon, she
caught my arm to stop me and said, "You
know, you can keep that dress...if you
want." I agreed to keeping it, thanked her,
grabbed the dress and went out of the door. * * *
While this happened, Malon had a strange look on
her face that Link had noticed when the girl- her
name being Arianna- had left.
"Malon...Malon, what is wrong?" Asked
Link, trying to dig into her head to find the
answer, but failing, as much as he wanted to find
out. "Link, I was just wondering
something...did you notice her ears? They looked
kinda...different. Did you see?" Malon still
had the strange look on her face, and Link
responded saying "Well, accually, no I
didn't notice...why? Whats different about
them?" Link asked, still wondering what the
big deal about her ears were. "Well, its
just that, her ears weren't pointy, they were
curved." Malon wondered if she was getting
anything into Links head by giving him a clue.
Link looked at her like what she said didn't
matter, and he responded saying "What does
that have to do with anything?" Malon,
looking quite annoyed, said "Helloooo,
Hyrule to Link, Hyrule to Link. Obviously, she is
from a different world. There has been no
curved-eared creatures like that one in all the
worlds you have visited. " Link was finnally
giving a look that meant he accually understood
what she was trying to get cross to him, and he
said quickly to Malon "Hey, I will be back,
I have to track her down" "Ok, Link,
b-" but before Malon could say bye, Link was
already on Epona, galloping away to find Arianna.
* * * "Ok, this is just not going to work
out. I seriously do NOT have the feet to go
on." I sighed, as I took the water bottle
that I filled with Hyrule's spring water, and
drunk a little out of the bottle while leaning
against a tree. I was back near the draw bridge,
and could accually hear the town music that was
playing inside. I heard a sound far in the
distance, and squinted in the direction of the
noise, and surprisingly it was coming from the
direction of the ranch. I didn't know whether it
was someone bad, or just someone riding to the
castle, all I knew was that I was frozen, waiting
for the 'someone' to be identified. To my relief,
it was the young man, Link, who I had seen
earlier in Malon's house. He was riding towards
me, and I was wondering why he would be trying to
chase after me. He finnaly stopped, and while
still mounted on Epona, he asked in a serious
tone of voice "Excuse me for asking, and
don't take this offensive or anything, but...why
are your ears different?" I really wasn't
expected for a question like that, but to remind
myself of the shape of my ear, I felt it, and
then looked at his ear and noticed that his was
different- It was pointy. I decided to respond to
his question that he was so puzzled about,
saying, "Well, from what I know now, I come
from somewhere else. A place called Earth. It
isn't majorly different than here in...Hyrule,
but it is a little more advanced in
technol-" I decided not to finish my
sentance, as I was surprised because he jumped
off his horse and started to look me over.
"Turn around, please." He asked, in a
demanding, yet calm voice. I slowly turned
around, and gave him a questioning look.
"Looks like you don't look much different
than any other hylian...except of course, for the
ears." Link grinned flirtidly over at me,
but I dismissed it as being a 'different' kind of
smile, yet I knew deep in myself what it really
was. "Well, in order to get all this
straightned out, lets go to somewhere quiet where
we can talk." Link said. I really didn't
feel comfortable being in a quiet place with him.
He seemed kinda..strange...no wait, strange isn't
what he was..it's just unique. The thing is, he
was so unique that I was uncomfortable around
him. Yeh, that was it. "Um, yeh, sure Link.
I guess. Where are we gunna go, though?"
Link thought for about three seconds and
responded with two words "Lake Hylia."
He motioned me to get up on his horse with him,
and I went over there to climb up, but the horse
was too tall. "It's too tallll" I
complained, and I tried jumping on the horse but
landed with a 'thump' on the ground. He was
quietly, but not-so-quietly laughing at me, and I
looked at him like an idiot, and he said
"Sorry, haha, I was like, just messin with
ya."...he knew that I wouldn't be able to
get up on the horse that way, so he just pulled
me up onto her when I got near her. I didn't
expect him to do that, but atleast he didn't try
and make me jump up on the horse by myself. Gosh,
that would be embarressing. I was in front, and
he positioned my hands, without saying a word,
where to put them on the reins. I had rode a
horse, when I was around the age of...like, 7. I
guess I tottally forgot what it felt like, but I
knew I rode one before. He felt really warm,
compared to me, who was in a tank top and the
wind was blowing that held a cold chill in them
every once in a while. We got the horse to move,
and the horses gallop felt like I was in some
kinda dream. My mother would have never let me
own a horse, no matter how many times I asked,
and now I was riding one...again. (haha.) So, we
were off...to Lake Hylia.
Chapter Three
While galloping
along, We both encounter a stalchild. One little
stalchild. I Started panicking and said
"Link, you have a sword...KILL IT!" He
didn't. He just stood there, with a confused look
on his face, staring at the stalchild. I wondered
what he was doing, and he finnally said
"It's daytime..." and I said "Yeh
I noticed, the sun is out...duh." He looked
at me like I didn't know anything, and that was
true...I didn't know anything...about Hyrule,
that is. He explained "Stalchildren only
come out at nighttime. This isn't right. There is
something wrong here." I sat staring,
wondering what he would do. Finnally, after
waiting a few minutes, he unsheathed his large
sword and slashed it with one quick blow. It
crumbled to dust, and all that was left were some
bits of the bone and the bone that was litarally
well, burnt. After what seemed like forever, we
reached it. The shining, beautiful lake, with the
circuler land in the middle of it. The sunset
matched so well with the scene, and it made you
want to just die right there, and go to heaven.
Of course, we didn't die and we didn't go to
heaven. That is beside the point though. Anyway,
I lied down on the soft grass, with one leg bent
up, and the other laying straight down. Link was
just sitting up, staring at the Lake. It looked
like to me like he was thinking about something.
I suddenly asked him, "Link, do you have any
idea why I was brought here? Because, I have no
clue." I looked at him waiting for a
response, and boredfully, I starting picking the
grass that was near me out of the ground. He
looked at my fingers, apparently the picking of
the grass was getting on his nerves, so I stopped
and said "Uh...sorry." He finnally
responded my question saying, "To tell the
truth, I don't know why you were brought here. It
wasn't just out of pure coincidence though. Thats
all I can really tell ya." I felt hopeless.
No way to get home, and I didn't even know why I
was in this foreign land. In my head, I start
screaming 'Whyyyy meeeee? WHYYYYYY???!!!!' of
course, I didn't say it out loud. "I thought
we were coming here to accually talk...not sit
around and look at the Lake forever." I
said, out of the silence of the surroudings. He
gave me a cold look and said "I am waiting
until nighttime." I wondered what was
bothering him so much. Malon explained to me the
night when I was over her house that he was a
lighthearted soul, with a good sense of humour,
and a jokester. I wondered if I was getting
really annoying to him, so out of my so called
'instincts,' I got up and started walking slowly
away from him. I didn't care where, as long as I
was walking away. I could fell his eyes watching
me. "Hey...hey, where are you going?
Arianna! Hellooo? Can you hear me??" I just
kept walking. I heard him jogging toward me but I
didn't turn around. He went on the other side of
me, to see me face, but I turned another
direction. * * * I didn't know what I did to make
her act this way. Why was she doing this? After a
while of trying to get her to look at me, I Just
grabbed her shoulders, and twisted her around.
"Ok, why are you doing that?" I looked
into her Hazel eyes, and I could see it in them.
I could tell that I apparently did something to
make her upset, and I wondered excactly what it
was. "Arianna, what did I do to make you
upset? Please, tell me." She turned her head
away, and I couldn't stand her being this way...I
couldn't stand any girl being this way, so I just
said,"Ok, well, whatever I did, I am really
sorry for it." She looked back at me and
said "It's just the way you've been acting
ever since we met. I was in Malons house, and you
just stared at me like I was some crazy monkey,
or something, and then you were with me around
the draw bridge, and you were just too...serious.
It was like you were treating me like some
criminal. Then here, you give me this mean look
when you told me why we weren't gunna talk
yet." I hadn't known that would hurt her so
much. I tried to explain by saying "Look, I
am sorry about all of that. It is just I had a
bad day. First, I woke up in the morning, and my
dumb feary is going around my head SCREAMING her
lungs out saying for me to get up and that didn't
get me off to a good start, then I ran into I
don't know how many dodongoes in Zora's
domain...So I had to destroy them. I had to go
all the way back to town where I had to go and
get this witch some ingridiants in order for her
to give me something in exchange, and the
ingridiants smelt nasty, like throw up or
something. To top all that off, I was hit in the
head with a ladder when it coincidently fell onto
my head." I hoped the last one cheered her
up, though. It worked, luckily. * * * I started
giggling at his last remark, and told him
"Well, yeh..I guess I should apologize,
also. I was probably getting annoying to you
sometimes. Soo, sorry." I looked into his
deep blue eyes, being so tempted to kiss him, but
I pulled away from his grip on my shoulders. It
wasn't that I had a grudge against him. It was
just that I didn't want to get 'close' to him. I
have had expirience with other guys, and when you
get too 'close' to them emotionally, they
ussually riip your heart out, and your scarred
for a very long time. I changed the subject
tottally, and asked him out of the blue,
"Hey, how old are you anyway?" He had
to think about this one, which surprised me. I
kind of giggled, for when he tried to remember
this, his eye kind of squinted, making it look
really funny. "Um, I am 17 years old...I
think." I laughed at the last two words and
said, "So, you don't excactly know your
birthday?" He answered, which made things
make a little more sense. "Well, you
see," he started, and paused "when you
do alot of time traveling, it sort of messes up
your time keeping, or whatever." I guess it
made sense. It might mess up a persons biological
clock. Suddenly, Link and I heard a Howl, and we
both knew it was night time. I told him,
"So, you said you wanted to talk now, did
you not?" "Yeh, I did." "Ok,
well can I ask you some things first?" I
asked Link. He nodded, and I asked a little too
many things in one time. "Can you tell me
about this place? Also, is there anything special
about Hyrule? and, why is there a castle
here?" Link sighed, wondering how he would
put this. "Well, to answer your last
question, there is a castle here because this is
a kingdom ruled by a King who has a princess,
named Zelda." "Coool....a Princess.
I've always wanted to meet one of those!" I
responded, accually quite excited. Link looked at
me like I was really strange and said,
"Yeh...I guess you will be able to meet her.
I ussually have to run errands for her, and I got
myself in that situation by becoming the Hero of
Time..." I looked at him like I was confused
and asked in a straight tone, "The Hero of
Time?" he responded, saying quite clearly
without mumbling, "Ya. Well, you see...When
I was ten years old, I had to save this land from
an evil man named Ganandorf. He, having the
triforce of power, I having the triforce of
Courage, and Zelda, having the triforce of
Wisdom, led to the trouble that he started to
cause. He wanted the whole triforce. He wanted to
rule Hyrule. I couldn't let him do that. I had to
get three stones from three different area. They
were the Kokiries Emerald, the Gorons Ruby, and
the Zora's Sapphire. I got them all by going
through three temples, and I got back to the
castle. At that time, Zelda was going out of town
with her attendant, Impa, running from Ganandorf.
Zelda threw me the Ocarina of Time, and then I
knew I could go to the Temple of Time where I
would be put into a 7 year sleep. After that
time, I was able to hold the power of the Master
Sword. I beat ganon at the end of my whole
journey, and saved Zelda and the Kingdom. I had
to become a child again, and return to my own
time. Then, I had to save this area called
Termina from this evil mask. Thats, uh...a whole
different story. I returned to Hyrule, and I grew
normally for 7 years, and became seventeen again.
Then you came along..." I was surprised at
the whole story and my mouth was half open. Link
stared at me and started smiling, and he let out
a small laugh. I had a feeling that he knew I
would be kind of surprised at the whole thing.
"I have heard of fairy tales and such, but,
Cum'on, that is the most made up story I have
ever encountered." I responded in disbelief.
"No, seriously, it's true, I swear to Din it
is. You can ask Zelda, you can ask anyone in the
kingdom...you can ask Malon." Link said,
trying to convince me of his title. I believed
him this time. I always believe people who say
'Go ask so and so' because whenever you do, it's
always true. I didn't bother asking people again,
so I just accepted the story saying,
"Well...Ok. I guess I will try and believe
you." "Good." Link responded. He
didn't look like he was too pleased with his life
right now. I wondered what he felt and why he
looked so sad. He got up off of the ground and
put out his hand. I grabbed it and he pulled me
up. I wondered what he planned to do, and he led
me to the edge of the Lake. I really did not
trust him at this time. He seemed like he was
going to do something mischevious. "See that
Zora over there?" he said, interrupting my
thoughts. I squinted, looking in the direction he
was pointing. I had a feeling a smile was forming
over his mouth. I didn't see any Zora, as hard as
I looked. I told him "I can't see one."
He just said back to me, "Well, look
harder." He came closer behind me, and
started to rub my arms. I said again, "I
still can't see it!" and he responded, in a
mischevious voice, "You will just have to
look closer then!" and he pushed me in the
Lake. I couldn't believe it! The dumb idiot! I
came up after holding my breath for a few seconds
trying to swim back up, and yelled out to him,
"I swear to GOD I am gunna getch you!"
He just looked at me and laughed his head off. He
was so proud of what he had done, and at that
time I was thinking of a plan. "Just wait, I
will get you for this!" Link laughed even
harder, and started saying things inbetween his
laughter, "haha,
Ya...right..hahahHAhhHAha!" I gave a scowl,
and then I swam over to the edge where Link was.
At this time, he was on the ground on his back
laughing his head off. His eyes were closed,
which gave me the perfect time to strike back. I
climbed up on the edge where he was laughing. He
was laughing so hard that he couldn't hear me
come up, and I whispered real softly into his
ear, "I told you I would get you."
Right when I said that, he stopped laughing at
once and snapped his eyes open. 'SPLASH!!!' I had
pulled him into the water with me, and he looked
at me like I was a crazy monkey, again. He
couldn't believe that I pulled him into the cold
lake with me. He really didn't expect it. Now I
was the one laughing, and I screamed
"REEEVVVVEEEEENG!!! hehe...isn't it
sweet?" After his frown, he couldn't help
smiling and start laughing at what I screamed
out. He came closer to me, and I started to swim
away. After all, I knew he was gunna do something
again. He apparently could swim faster then me. I
could hear him coming up behind me, and then I
was under the water. He had dunked my head under
the water. After he had let go, I came up and
after about two minutes of trying to catch up to
him, I reached him and dunked him under. He came
up again, and we both started to laugh. This was
the first time he accually acted this way, and I
was glad that this was the way I got wet again,
instead of in the rain. We looked at each other
and stopped laughing. I smiled over at him, and
at this time, we were about one foot away. Link
broke the stare and Asked in a nervous, quiet
voice, "...Do you hear that?" He was
frowning, not smiling. He really did hear
something, and I couldn't hear it. "No, I
don't...what is it?" I responded. He started
to look worried. "We have to get out of the
water, now." I wondered why he was acting
this way. Dang, good way to end a sweet
moment...(not). We started swimming to the edge,
when I felt an energy start sneaking up behind
me. I couldn't pinpoint the excact feeling, but
it felt threatening. Link was ahead of me, and I
was swimming as fast as I could. I didn't know
what to do, all I could think was to swim. I was
almost at the edge, Link climbing up it, when I
felt something pull me under. "Oh my God,
Hel-" but before I could say help, I was
being dragged under. I had to hold my breath, and
I looked down to see what was dragging me under.
It was a creature of some sort. It had dark brown
and green skin, and a hunched back. The teath
obviously told that it was a meat eater, and only
a meat eater. While I was being dragged, I could
see a stick hanging out of the wall that was
below the edge. I quicky grabbed it, and poked
the long stick hard at the creature. I could hear
its high freaquency pitched 'Yelp!' as it let go
of me. I quickly swam up, out of fear. I nearly
jumped up on the edge, and dragged myself up. I
could hear Link run over to me, and he pulled me
up off the ground. "What happened?!" he
nearly yelled at me. "I...I don't know. It
was like, a brown and greenish creature with a
humped back. I think it has really sensitive
skin, cuz I poked this stick at it, and it yelped
and let go of me." I said in a stuttering
voice. I held up the stick, and he looked at it
and said, "Here, let me see this." He
grabbed the stick from me, and looked and felt
over it. I wondered what the creature was and it
was like he read my mind. He responded to my
thoughts (atleast I thought) by saying,
"That creature that you saw, that was a
caferirana. They are very rare, but I have heard
from fishermen, and onlookers that there have
been more popping up out of nowhere. I am trying
to figure out why..." I didn't really know
what to say to him, except, "Well, will
everyone be alright?"
"I'm not
sure...Stalchildren coming out in daytime,
Dodongoes in Zora's domain, then more
caferirana's popping up in the Lake. Apparently
there are more monsters coming out of nowhere,
and in places where they don't belong." Link
said, staring at the stick for no reason at all.
I started to feel even more hopeless. There were
more monsters, which made a bigger chance of me
dying, I had no way to get home, and I hardly had
any friends here. Link was hardly considered a
friend. I hardly even knew the guy. I brang
myself to sit down on the ground, and watched
Link sit down also, still looking at the stick,
and I saw in his eyes that he was thinking. What
he was thinking about, I didn't know. It gave me
a chance to think also, but all I could think
about was home. I remembered the memories with my
mother and father, and longed for them to say
'Goodnight' and 'I love you', but I knew I
wouldn't get that again. Atleast, that is what my
doubtful side said. My hopeful side was keeping
quiet, which brang me to tears. I couldn't help
but not cry. I got homesick. I turned around,
worrying that Link would see me crying and put my
head in my hands. I could feel my shoulders
shaking as I sobbed, and all I could think about
was home. Everything was hopeless, atleast, that
is what I thought at the time. Something startled
me by putting their hands on my shoulders behind
me. I noticed it was Link, and I turned around.
He could see the tears on my face, and he asked,
"Hey...what's wrong?" It took me awhile
to answer, but I finnally did and said, "My
family...I miss them. There is no way to get
home, and I am just worried about
everything." I sobbed through the
confession, and Link turned me around and put my
face on his shoulder. He held me close to him,
and let me cry. "It's going to be ok. Trust
me. You were brought here for some reason. I am
sure we will be able to get you back..." I
started to cry harder, and he held me closer. I
couldn't stand being this way, but everything to
me was so hopeless. I was really close to my
parents, and I didn't want everything to end with
them. I Loved them.
