The BS Zelda game was released only in Japan and few
in the US ever got to play it. It was a remastered version of Zelda 1,
adapted for the LTTP game engine. The game was played through a Satellite
hookup, called the Satellite view, The hookup connected to a channel aired in
Japan, and would download games instead of video. Although BS Zelda was a remake
of the original Zelda for the NES it included some new level designs. It was
only playable for an hour a day, once a week for four weeks. Each week, the
station would add new levels to the already existing game, providing new levels
until level 9. Then, the game stopped airing, and that was the end.
A ROM version of the game is available on the net Only the third week of
the game is available so the game is unbeatable. ROM's are only images of the
game's memory, and can be played on an emulator. However, this is illegal if you
do not own the game. For those who really MUST play this game, the ROM is your
only option.. Some who have played the game were impressed, others were not. But
, for the true Zelda aficionado, getting your hands on this game is a "must".
You will get to experience a game that very few ever got to play. Just feast
your eyes on the screenshots to see just how nicely done BS Zelda was. We can
all hope that Nintendo will someday release this game in cart form for all to
play. |
